Diffuser

Diffuser

For anyone looking for natural alternatives to health and wellness, I am sure you have already explored the possibility of diffusing essential oils. It is the easiest way to get some amazing benefits. A healthier alternative to candles, which is usually on top gift-giving lists this time of year. Here are some of the many reasons to give a diffuser this Christmas. Show your loved ones you were thinking about their health and well-being. Have fun with endless essential oil combinations.
Here are some benefits to using a diffuser:
  • Purifies the air. They can help kill bacteria and fungus that are present in the air. Recommended oils: oregano, cinnamon bark, thyme, protective blend
  • Reduces dust in the air. Aroma diffusers have an ionizing effect. The air quality is improved because more negative ions are released into the air. These ions attach themselves to the positive ions, which causes dust to fall on the ground (so that it no longer pollutes the air).
  • Spreads scent quickly throughout a room. An ultrasonic diffuser divides essential oils into millions of micro-particles, creating a very fine water vapor that quickly spreads through a room. It will only take a few minutes for your entire room to be scented with a delightful aroma!
  • Humidifies the air. Dry air (<30% humidity) is linked to several respiratory tract issues, as well as irritated mucous membranes and dry skin. A healthy humidity level ranges between 40% and 60%.
  • Maintains the oils’ quality & effectiveness. The ultrasonic diffuser does not use heat to disperse the oils. Heating oils will decrease the therapeutic effect.
  • Relaxation and sleep. One of the best and most well-known uses for essential oils is their ability to help you unwind at the end the day. While there are several other methods for getting your soothing oils from the bottle into your blood stream where they start to work their magic, the diffuser is by far the easiest and longest-lasting of them all. Recommended oils: roman chamomile, lavender, calming blend.
  • Mood elevation. A diffuser can also be used to elevate mood. This is great for when you’re feeling sad, depressed or just unmotivated. You can use your diffuser to inspire high spirits during the holidays, to set a positive atmosphere for parties and social gatherings, to help you get moving on a slow morning, or even to create a romantic atmosphere for that special someone in your life. Recommended oils: wild orange, jasmine, sandalwood, peppermint, elevating blend
  • Improved cognitive function. Using essential oils in a diffuser is a highly-effective way to stimulate thinking and help focus. First, many essential oils have adaptogenic qualities – meaning that they are soothing when you’re stressed, but they can also give you a pick-me-up when you’re feeling down or sluggish. By leveling out your mood, you can then focus on the task at hand.  There are several essential oils which are known for their powerful ability to balance the body’s hormones. Hormones often interfere with many health aspects but can often affect cognitive function. Recommended oils: peppermint, eucalyptus, lemon, frankincense
  • Repels insects. You can use essential oils in your diffuser to deter many different insects from entering your home, from mosquitos to flies and gnats. Recommended oils: clove, lemongrass, rosemary, cedarwood, lavender, repellant blend
  • Safer alternative to candles and incense. If you have pets or small children, burning candles or incense can be a potentially hazardous practice. With an essential oil diffuser, you can reap the benefits of aromatherapy – and to much greater effect – without the risk of burns, wax spills, or other accidents. Eliminating the chemical fragrances from the air will keep your family from breathing in toxins and keep them healthier.
  • Saves money. There so many reasons that owning a diffuser is an investment in your health and well-being, but it’s more than just that. With all of the versatile uses for essential oil diffusers around the home which ultimately lead to fewer doctor visits, lower electric bills, and better productivity; you will soon discover that this handy little device is a money-saver as well!
Essential Oil Dryer Set

Essential Oil Dryer Set

One product I gave up years ago, even before I knew anything about essential oils was dryer sheets.  Although there are many alternatives to fabric softener with many different fragrances, I was not interested in embedding a chemical scent into my clothing.  Using essential oils on dryer balls is more efficient and easier on the pocket book.

What are dryer balls?

Dryer balls are made from 100% wool and are a great alternative to dryer sheets. You can purchase them already felted or you can make them yourself.

What are the benefits to using wool dryer balls?

  • Cut your drying time in half
  • Help reduce static
  • Save you money on your energy bill
  • Chemical-free
  • Can be reused over and over again (I just pop mine in the washer from time to time)
  • Increase the fluffiness of your clothes
  • Safe to use with cloth diapers and baby clothing

I lightly scent my dryer balls with essential oils. I add about 2-4 drops to 3 dryer balls and that lasts 2-4 loads of laundry. Here are some of my favorites but that is the fun part, you can create your own combinations.

  1. Purifying blend
  2. Lavender
  3. Calming Blend
  4. White Fir
  5. Wild Orange

What a great holiday gift…a set of all natural 100% wool dryer balls with your favorite essential oil.

Aromatherapy Neck Wrap

Aromatherapy Neck Wrap

Many of us lead very busy lives with very little downtime. From the time we get up in the morning and get the family going in all the directions their day will take them until the end of the day when we all start to wind down, my family is on the go. Most days my body is just as sore in the morning when I wake up as it is at the day’s end. My family is happy and healthy but that doesn’t mean stress-free. Warm aromatherapy with the use of my hand made neck wrap is one of my guiltless pleasures. I look forward to that 15 minutes of pure relaxation at the end of the day. I had a friend make a few for me as gifts and I just had to keep one for myself.

In making the aromatherapy neck wrap, my friend was scenting the rice with Lavender Essential oil but I had another idea. I wanted the rice to remain unscented and the fabric could be just plain white, nothing fancy on the inside. When she gave me the option for all these beautiful, fun, bright fabrics, I asked for that to become a removable cover. This way, my aromatherapy neck wrap could be washed whenever I needed. I loved how versatile and customizable my gifts became. Not everyone is in love with Lavender and there are so many essential oils to consider for stress and relaxation.

How to Use:

  1. Warm the neck wrap in the Microwave for about 1 minute on high.
  2. Add a drop or two of your favorite essential oil.
  3. Remove the cover and wash when needed.

Some of my favorite essential oils and blends to add to my aromatherapy neck wrap:

  1. Lavender
  2. Roman Chamomile
  3. Lemongrass
  4. Wintergreen
  5. Eucalyptus
  6. Grounding Blend
  7. Calming Blend
  8. Invigorating Blend

Use your favorite and mix and match for some amazing gifts….the sky is the limit!
